Interim

Group exhibition, Atrium Gallery Grand Parade, University of Brighton

In 'Epochal Echoes,' Alison Claire France's interim exhibition at Atrium Gallery, Grand Parade, delves into the theme of 'Alchemy in Painting Anthropocene Pareidolia and Displacements' through three interconnected paintings. Employing free-hanging cut-out techniques, Alison prompts viewers to recognize familiar shapes, fostering a connection between humanity and the environment. The nuanced narrative encourages contemplation on the evolving relationship between humans and the natural world during the Anthropocene, seamlessly integrating natural and human elements with symbolic portrayals of pollution and rising sea levels.

Unfold: A Celebration of Current Practice and Research

Group exhibition, Edward Street Gallery, University of Brighton

"Unfolding Realities," curated by Alison Claire France, transported visitors into a world where the ordinary unfurled into the extraordinary. Through the intricate interplay of layers in art, the exhibition unveiled concealed landscapes, each representing themes of displacement, dystopia, and pareidolia. In the first segment, "Layers of Displacement," Alison delved into metaphorical landscapes hidden within transparent acetate sheets, revealing stories of displacement. Journeying deeper into the surreal layers, "The Dystopian Nexus" confronted viewers with hauntingly beautiful dystopian visions, blurring the boundaries between reality and illusion. Finally, in "The Alchemy of Pareidolia," patterns and symbols emerged from overlapping acetates, transforming ordinary scenes into something new and extraordinary. "Unfolding Realities," curated by Alison Claire France, transcended convention, immersing viewers in a surreal dreamscape and serving as a testament to the transformative power of art.
