"The Dystopain Sphere"
July 2024
‘Unveiling Perception: The Dystopian Sphere’ is an immersive art installation that invites viewers into a realm where perception shifts with each installation rotation. Created using crumpled acetates infused with emulsion paint, the installation features swirling patterns and recognisable forms that emerge amidst the chaos. The layered textures and dynamic lighting enhance the visual experience, challenging viewers to discern reality from illusion through the psychological phenomenon of pareidolia. This installation explores themes of dystopian decay and corruption yet offers glimpses of hope and aspiration. By immersing viewers in a distorted environment, ‘The Dystopian Sphere’ prompts reflection on the impact of perception and truth in our world. It invites viewers to explore their own interpretations and emotions, aiming to provoke thought and introspection long after leaving the installation. This immersive experience is designed to captivate through visual and tactile elements, ensuring a profound impact without relying on sound.

"Transcending Boundaries: A Symbolic Exploration in Metal Sculpture"
September 2023

My metal sculpture is a poignant and powerful representation of my life's journey, delving deeply into my upbringing in three countries with distinct cultures. It comprises three meticulously attached whisky hoops centred around a pole. Each hoop contains a captivating painting of a figure, suspended and gracefully rotating with a gentle motion. The incorporation of red LED lights within the hoops intensifies the emotional depth of my artwork.
The sculpture acts as a visual narrative, reflecting my complex experiences, including encounters with discrimination, victimisation, and the enduring impact of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The figures within the rotating hoops symbolise my resilience and personal growth as I navigate the challenges posed by different cultures and the traumas I have faced.
The presence of red LED lights enhances the artwork with a vibrant and evocative aura, further emphasising my emotional journey and the profound significance of my experiences in shaping my life and art.
Beyond portraying my personal struggles and emotions, the sculpture also serves as a heartfelt tribute to my three daughters, each residing in a different part of the world. The three hoops can be seen as a symbolic representation of my daughters, encapsulating the depth of my love and longing for them, even in the face of physical separation.
My metal sculpture encompasses a profoundly moving and introspective portrayal of my life, capturing the richness and complexity of my upbringing in diverse cultures. It eloquently conveys my resilience, the enduring effects of discrimination and victimisation, and my transformative journey towards healing and growth. The rotating figures and the presence of red LED lights infuse the artwork with dynamism and emotional intensity, drawing viewers into the profound narrative it unfolds. Furthermore, the sculpture's depiction of my connection to my daughters evokes a universal message of love, longing, and the unbreakable bonds of family transcending geographical distances.
